Therapy for Eating Disorders

Symptoms of an Eating Disorder

  • Marked changes in eating patterns that can be abnormal or distressing
  • Drastic changes in weight
  • Bingeing
  • Purging
  • Restricting or counting calories
  • Over-exercising
  • Finding other ways to compensate for food that has been eaten (ex: diet pills, laxatives etc.)

Eating disorders commonly occur along anxiety, depression, substance abuse or other mental health issues. Talk therapy can be an effective form of treatment to target the problematic behaviors as well as any underlying symptoms.

More often than not, eating disorders require a treatment team including a registered dietician and psychiatrist. We can help you set up that team, so that we can all help you to help yourself.
